They discuss everything from keeping your car locked to having your VIN etched on all of your windows. Now some of the recommendations are a bit much there sure are some that I will consider.

The cost of money

Filed under: Marketing by Mike in the early evening on

It seems like everything is costing more these days, whether its gas, food, clothing or anything else. But is it really that everything is costing more or is it actually that the green paper money that we are using to buy it is losing value. The people at Monex will help you invest your money in something tangable that will also help you diversify your protfolio. Gold American Eagle Coins are not only a tangable investment but a solid one. That tech company might go belly up but precious metals are here to stay.

Land Desktop 2006 issues

Filed under: CADD by Mike mid-afternoon on Thu, May 4, 2006

We are trying to configure Land Desktop 2006 here at work and most things are going smooth but there are a few issues that I just dont understand. A little background, we are an engineering firm that has at least 20 different clients that all have their own cadd standards. We also have about 30 people in 7 offices using Land Desktop. With this being said we are trying to put as much info as we can on the network. Now I know all of you diehard AutoCAD users out there hate the word ‘network’ and feel that everything should be stored local.

First of all the sdsk.dfm file that seems to be the main configuration file for Land Desktop is located here:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Autodesk\Autodesk Land Desktop 2006\R16.2\enu\Support\sdsk.dfm

Ok so we copy that to a better location so that the original configuration stays untouched. This path isn’t much better but it is done for other reasons that I will not go into here:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\CAD\AutoCAD\land\sdsk.dfm

Next we have copied the Data folder up to the network into each client so that we can make the appropriate changes per client. This data folder contains all of the styles that are used for the different elements taht are placed inside of Land Desktop and some of them are different for our different clients:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINNT\Application Data\Autodesk\Autodesk Land Desktop 2006\R16.2\Data
to:
T:\client\ZCommon\Content\LDT\Data

This is gonna be long so please stick with me.

It’s good to be back

After almost two years I finally got back onto the trail. A few of us took a trip up to Delta and it felt good to be out wheeling again. Since we have been to Delta many times we are always looking for something new, that should explain the tree. Even though my Jeep did great I am now itching to lift it higher. I am looking at a long arm kit with something between 6-8 inches and either 33 or 36 inch tires.
